Thank you very much. But we can't talk about this current post season right? So no one mention the pats, packers, texans, niners, ravens, broncos, seahawks, falcons until after they lose this weekend.

Looks like Monte Kiffin will be next D-coordinator of Dallas Cowboys and that the boys will be going to the 4-3 alignment.

Ware can play DE. Think Freeney. Do they re-sign spencer to play the other end? I dunno. Ratliff not at the nose is interesting.

    Monte Kiffen, that old fuck????

He was supposed to be the savior for UT and that didn't work out at all. I wouldn't get my hopes up. Not saying he's not a guru, he just hasn't done that well lately I don't think.

Lot of uproar over Brian Kelly interviewing with the Eagles, can't say I blame both ND and NFL/Eagle fans being bothered by it. ND fans it speaks for itself but when it comes to Eagles fans I look at it like..... The Eagles quit on Andy Reid this season and you're gunna go get a coach who people are saying quit on his team in the biggest game of his career at half time... hasn't even addressed his team or the incoming recruits since the loss, AND he's on vacation.

The Bears fired Lovie Smith, the Eagles fired Andy Reid, both seemingly having no idea where to go after firing them.

Atleast they aren't the Cleveland Browns who are losing out on their top head coach choices left and right.

The Browns at this point top head coaching choice are me, Frank Caliendo dressed up as John Madden, and the Ask Madden feature.

I heard the Jets are interested in Norv Turner.....If anyone can get somethign out of Mark Sanchez it may be Norv...

I dont think Monte Kiffin is the answer in Dallas. He is a big name. But I have never really liked the cover 2/tampa 2 defenses myself..

I know the Jets hired a new Special Teams coach, I don't know how likely them getting Norv Turner is though.

Carolina's OC is now the new Clevland Browns next failed HC.

Edit: Speaking of Norv looks like hes going to Clevland with him.

I hope a NFL team isn't dumb enough to hire Brian Kelly. A guy that almost lost to a crappy purdue team, should have lost to Stanford if not for a epic ref job and almost lost to a gutter straggling Pitt team then got beaten worse then a dead horse in the championship game.

If you want to bring a spread coach to the NFL, at least bring one who actually has a GOOD offense and team isn't carried by elite talent in his front 7.

So the Browns parted ways with their DC Dick Jauron after the new HC's meeting with the team... I don't know if that means the meeting was a cause of that but either way they will miss him, he and that defense were the reason that always played tougher than their record.

Yes browns had horrible record but played tough nearly every game. Never been much of a Jauron fan though myself. I think Chud will bring Rob Ryan in to coach the defense..lulz

I think chud is a horrible hire. Browns will continue to be cellar dwellars.

There is a stigma now that it's not just bad luck they just don't try to win. They're either not patient enough or don't offer enough. Just in the last few years people will look back and say:

Had a chance on Andy Reid, Lovie Smith, Norv Turner, Jon Gruden (who the Browns were his team growing up), for coaching. Passed up on (as everyone was thinking had the best chance) to get RGIII (don't get me wrong Trent Richardson seems to be really fucking good but there's a reason the 'Skins won the division and the Browns only won 5 games). The QB they did get was a 28 year old rookie who still needs time to grow (and him improving to a franchise QB is highly unlikely, paired with the lack of patience in the NFL nowadays anyway).

Some of those choices (coaching especially) are better than others I know a lot of people would be like "I wouldn't hire Norv Turner even if I was the Browns" that's whatever but nonetheless That's just the last 2 years and the only positive they got out of it was a RB.........................in a time where it's a pass driven league.

    strahan should go

jerome bettis is HOF material. you just dont see guys that big doing what he did in the NFL for as long as he did
I think Sapp was overrated and he was on a great defensive team. Good to great player. But idk if HOF.

Kevin Greene probably won't get in this year but he will eventually. One of the best LB's in history that no one ever talks about. I believe he's third in sacks all-time.

The fact Haley isn't in yet is a complete joke. 100 career sacks and 5 super bowls, if he wasn't a head case he would of already been in. Voters need to take their off the field bs and remove it from voting process.

Yeah Kevin Green is like the only player with over 150 sacks that isn't in HOF.

I think Cris Carter should get in before Brown. Brown was good but never "we can't let Brown beat us"

Cris Carter was the man right behind Jerry Rice.

If there was one I could see not making it out of the 3 I said "Cant see how they dont make it this year" it's Sapp, but we all know he'll get in if not this year sooner than later.

Tim Brown and Cris Carter have pretty much the same stats, Brown with more yards Carter with more TDs Brown had more post season success and since they put such a emphasis on this for the hall yea... I think Brown gets in first.

Mike McCoy (Denver's OC) is the new Chargers head coach
Haslam in Cleveland is looking into changing the Browns Uniforms ("Won't be changing the helmets") - he couldn't anyway that's actually a condition when he bought the team.
Apparently Todd Haley won't leave Pitts. as OC for AZ unless it's "Too good to pass up" essentially saying he wants more money than his last HCing stint showed he was worth.

i agree, im just hoping the Jets are smart and at least pursue him don't fall back on Sanchez, and cross your fingers for someone like Vick when you know he can't stay healthy anyway.

The Jets are crippled for seasons to come anyway, though.

People on the Auburn boards (that's where he went to college) say it's because of an incident where he got into a fight or almost into a fight with one of his coaches on the sidelines that got a lot of headlines, and he's seen as a hothead or something. Don't know the validity of that being the reason, but he definitely deserves to be in.

He was actually in talks to be our new DC but I think Malzahn was looking for someone a little more proven right now and was also looking for a specific scheme.

    Greene Attacks Assistant Coach

    Carolina's Kevin Green
Carolina linebacker Kevin Greene, right, had to be restrained after he attacked linebackers coach Kevin Steele during the second quarter. (AP)
    By David Droschak
    Associated Press
    Monday, December 14, 1998; Page D9

CHARLOTTE, N.C., Dec. 13 – Not many in the NFL play at a higher emotional level than Kevin Greene. But that intensity got the best of the 14-year veteran linebacker today.

Greene, tied for second in the league in sacks and one of the best pass rushers in NFL history, attacked assistant coach Kevin Steele on the sideline in the first half of the Carolina Panthers' 28-25 loss to the Washington Redskins.

It was yet another ugly incident captured on television for the 2-12 Panthers.

Two weeks ago, starting running back Fred Lane was suspended by Coach Dom Capers for one game when he grabbed his crotch during a touchdown celebration against the New York Jets. Lane did not dress again today.

The Panthers had just given up their third touchdown early in the second quarter and trailed 21-3 against Washington when Capers and Steele began to address the defense on the bench.

When Steele, a slender marathon runner, waved an arm near Greene, the 6-foot-3, 247-pound linebacker suddenly jumped up, grabbed Steele's jacket with two hands, starting yelling and pushed him backwards about 10 feet. The two had to be separated by players and coaches.

"One of the reasons Kevin [Greene] is a good player is that he is an emotional guy," Capers said. "But [he] knew he was wrong."

It is unclear if Greene would be fined, suspended or both by Capers, who said he would take appropriate action, probably Monday.

Capers was asked if he viewed the incident as an unprovoked attack on a coach.

"It's something you can't do. You've got to keep your poise," Capers said. "It's an emotional game and emotions run high. That's the nature of the game, but you have to always come back and regain your poise. It was an exchange that should not happen."

Greene was near tears over the incident when he talked to reporters briefly in the locker room.

"I lost my composure in the heat of the moment," Greene said. "It's an emotional game and I will apologize to the entire team tomorrow."

Most of the players said the incident didn't affect the team, saying it was like a family disagreement. Veteran center Frank Garcia said he still considers Greene one of the team's leaders.

"Coaches have to realize that players are in the heat of the battle, and players have to realize that coaches are trying to win the game," Garcia said. "I don't think anybody should ever swing at a coach or anything, but we're all in this together. Emotions flare in this game."

Greene and Steele, who coached at Nebraska in 1994 when the Cornhuskers won the national title, met after the game. Capers said both "are fine" with what happened.

"Football is an emotional, aggressive game," Steele said. "Those guys are out there fighting. Kevin is a good person. We've talked about it and worked it out. That's all I have to say about it."
Ehh, I think the people on the Auburn boards must just be fishing for reasons he's not in. Don't see why that incident (unless there's more I don't know about) would keep him out.

Chip Kelly is going to need 4 QBs who can run to execute his system in the NFL.

Probably keep Vick, sign a guy like Josh Johnson, draft a guy like Denard Robinson in the 3rd-4th and another UDFA or something I dunno...

I doubt he'd do that with 4 QBs, I know you're the resident College guy but Chip Kelly will soon realize he's in the NFL now and while I understand it's his system yada yada 4 QBs is not gunna get over/work anywhere. If he does it I'll more than gladly eat the crow, especially if it's successful but I doubt that.

I do see him keeping Vick and getting another QB though, Denard Robinson does sound like the likely choice.

Also Jaguars hired Seattle's DC Gus Bradley as their HC.

I hope he works out for the Jags. But on that note I wonder who'll be the next QB for Jacksonville.

Assuming they're going to let him run his offense there, the NFL has tried in the past to run college offenses with failure, Atlanta with Vick and the triple-option, Spurrier with his spread attack etc., but I think they're finally catching up and finding ways to utilize (at least) certain aspects of college offenses in the pros. The biggest example right now would be NE running the hurry-up no huddle and wearing defenses down with it.

Whether it be HS, college or the pros, I think the HUNH is quickly becoming one of the most sought after and copied offenses in football, which from a personal standpoint makes me even happier we have the man who essentially created it, or at least what it is today, as our HC at Auburn. I look for it to be this generations version of what the spread brought to football back in 90's.

Also I think the reason college offenses, such as the spread, haven't worked in the pros, is because they were too finesse, but with the HUNH, or at least Malzahn's version, it's actually a two-back play-action power attack executed from a spread formation with read-option thrown in.

He's definitely going to need a QB to run it completely for sure.

I would need to be more familiar with how Kelly runs his particular system, but in Malzahn's first year as OC, our QB was Chris Todd and he couldn't run at all, strictly a passer and we still averaged 30-something points a game and set team records on offense up to that point.

Once again I'd have to know more about Kelly's approach but generally speaking it can be altered if you don't have a very mobile QB, but of course you at the very least double what you're able to do with a QB who can not only run, but avoid tackles.

Yeah that eliminates Vick right there. He cant avoid tackles. He runs into them.

I think he needs 4 QBs, not to play all of them but because they are going to get destroyed when they are running his 100 snaps a game and taking hits on 30% if not more of those snaps.

It's not so much about him running his QBs, but Phillies OL is terrible and his QBs are going to get destroyed in the pocket a lot running his hurry up offense.

Not sure how many of you guys ever watched a Oregon game but his preferred offensive pace makes Tom Brady's hurry up look like a granny race.

He's either going to be a epic failure(90% chance) or he is going to revolutionize the NFL(10% chance).

I wonder how grown NFL men are going to take to his system. No, I don't just mean his system on the field I mean the fact he hires a nutritionist to set out a meal plan for every one of his players, doesn't want his players taking cold showers, likes to practice in the afternoon and evening and not in the am and afternoon like most, and the fact he puts a emphasis on injuries not mattering to him "next man up".

I doubt they enforce it too much if they do when I see 340 lb lineman on most teams and Chip doesn't like his linemen over 290.

I think some bs about him believing cold showers early lead to fatigue, just remember college commentators always making a big deal about it when talking about how well conditioned his teams where.

Well I mean if he gets them in good condition i dont see why theyd want to bitch so much. But NFL players tend to bitch about anything.

    Adam Schefter ‏@AdamSchefter

Bruce Arians has accepted four-year deal, with a team option for a fifth year, as head coach with Arizona Cardinals.

    ---

Good signing IMO for the Cardinals. Still need to figure out the QB & O-Line situation but good hire IMO.

Changing the way the whole O-Line plays is the biggest issue. If switching from a right handed to a left handed QB is considered a pretty big switch imagine how big of a switch all that would be.

A young team Kelly can get to buy into his system, but when dealing with whiny grown ass men that are vets they aren't going to buy into shit until they see results in the W column.

Ray Horton is pissed at Arizona over giving Arians the job. Looks like hes leaving Arizona. Shame he was the lone bright spot on Arizona last season.

So Horton is gonna be out? I'd loved to see him in Dallas but instead we are going Tampa 2...Marinelli on his way.

The biggest example right now would be NE running the hurry-up no huddle and wearing defenses down with it.
College offenses are everywhere in the pros at this point. The spread has been popular for a few years and in my opinion isn't as hot as it once was. Now it's this read option that Washington, SF, Seattle runs. SF also runs the pistol which is mainly a college formation.

I think there's more talent and entertainment at the QB position now than ever. In the last 2 years we've got Cam, RG3, Luck, Wilson, and Kaepernick. Pair that with the list of elite QB's (including 2 of the greatest of all time in Manning/Brady), and other amazing guys like Brees and Rodgers.... This has to be the pinnacle of the position.

I think RG3 isnt going to be as good as he was this past season. Dude needs to slide. He keeps taking hits like he has hes going to end up like Vick.

RGIII will be fine, he's versatile, even he loses a step as a runner his ability as a passer makes up for it.

He should be more worried about concussions ala Steve Young then knee injuries. I've seen the dude take some brutal hits this year.

Yeah. Nothing like Vick has taken over the last 2 years. I swear he gets a couple concussions per game. Seriously.

I think Vick is a bad faller. He tends to land head first, or do that whiplash-head-on-the-dirt thing when falling on his back. I noticed Jahvid Best falls the same way.

I think the main reason Vick isn't balling anymore is his concussions. It's not just the highlight hits, he gets layed out throwing a 5 yard slant route.

but according to saints fans, Goodell is the reason why they sucked. it's all Goodell's fault they had the worst defense in the history of the league.

Their defense was pretty much just as bad as last year, Payton being gone killed that team.

The reason their defense looked so much worse is they went from having the number 1 passing offense and number 6 rushing offense, aka completely controlling the ball and games for the most part to being a one dimensional pass first offense that couldn't maintain long drives.

I can see the saints trying to sign Anthony Spencer from Dallas for their 3-4 switch. Although a lot of people think he would be better as a 4-3 Defensive end.

and yeah it is amazing what a great offense will do to hide defensive deficiencies in the Saints case.

well the owner, coach, and gm all should know that the jets team is nowhere near close enough to compete for anything. So why not trade your best player and get some good players around him. the problem is the owner, coach, and gm are all the same and will draft some bum's! The jets finished #8 in total defense last year w/o Revis. Cornerbacks are an imporant part of a team. But the Ravens don't have elite cb's and they are in the super bowl.

Titus young wants to be cut from the lions. What a tool. They did bad this past year in the draft.

and lemme just say Woody Johnson is a dumbass if he thinks trading Revis is a good idea.
Why? Revis is gone after next year regardless. Why not try to get a few picks for him instead of nothing. If anything its the smartest move he could make.
